TERAPACK FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS, INSTALLATION, and SETUP GUIDE

    1. How do I install the software?

The software can be installed by double-clicking on the icon with "installer" in the name from the root level of the TeraPack Drive. Make sure to run the installer that corresponds to your operating system (Mac OS X, Windows 32-bit, or Windows 64-bit). The samples folders are already contained on this hard drive, so installation will be a quick process. Please make sure you update your software to the latest version "after installation". See section 8 below for precise instructions.

IMPORTANT: The trial period for these products begins when you "authorize" each individual product, and not when the products are "installed". For this reason, we recommend that you install all products initially, and only "authorize" each one when you want to start the 10 day trial period for that product. You do not have to test drive all of the products in 10 days, it's 10 days "per product" once you "authorize" that individual product. With 14 products included it could take up to 140 days to test drive all of them, however be aware the discount offered for full licenses is for a limited time.

    2. Do I need to install the samples?

The samples are already installed on the TeraPack, and the installer will install the software components you need to begin using PLAY immediately. Should you want to, you can move the individual products to another drive after installation. See section 10 below for precise instructions.

    3. Where do I find the 'Wordbuilder' application for use with EWQL Symphonic Choirs?

The Wordbuilder application is built directly into the PLAY virtual instrument. You should see the wordbuilder icon towards the top left of the 'Player" screen in Play. After loading a Symphonic Choirs patch, click on the Wordbuilder button and select insert. This should bring up the wordbuilder interface.

NOTE: You must authorize Symphonic Choirs to install and use the Wordbuilder application.

    4. Where is the documentation on the TeraPack Drive?

There is a folder called "Documentation" in the root level of the TeraPack drive that contains all manuals and quick guides for PLAY and the included products. This also gets installed with the software in your Program Files (in Windows) or Applications (in OS X) folders of your system drive. The documentation is in PDF format, and ready for printing at home or your local copy shop if necessary.

Also included with the PLAY 2 System manual and your product specific manual is the 'EW PLAY Quick Guide' for a quick tutorial in using the EastWest PLAY software included with the TeraPack Drive.

    5. How do I get Adobe Reader, and do I need it?

If you use Windows, PDF files can be viewed in a free application called Adobe Acrobat Reader

If you use Mac OS X, the Preview application can read our PDF documentation. Simply double-click on any of the documentation files and preview will open.

    6. How do I authorize the software?

After installing, the Authorization Wizard can be used to authorize the software. This is located in your East West folder in Program Files (in Windows) and Applications Folder (in OS X). Type in your soundsonline user name, password, and authorization code found on your Authorization Codes sheet (do NOT lose this) included with the TeraPack. If you do not yet have a soundsonline account, go to https://www.soundsonline.com/register.php, and create an account. Further information can be found in the Play System Manual in the Documentation folder.

    7. Where is my authorization code?

Your authorization codes (one for each product) are on a printed sheet included with your TeraPack Drive. The included authorization codes are TRIAL Licenses that have a duration of 10 DAYS each. The start of the 10 day trial period begins as soon as you authorize the product in question (they can all be done at separate times or at the same time).

Either during or after the 10 day trial period, you can purchase a full license for any of the TeraPack libraries on this page. Click "Purchase Full Licenses" above.

    8. How do I get my first updates?

If your computer is connected to the internet, use the "Check For Updates" link from the main menu in PLAY. If you are running the standalone application, this check will occur automatically every time PLAY is opened. If your computer is not connected to the internet, go to a machine which is, and check the Update Center.

    9. How do I load my first instrument?

Click on the button in the top row of PLAY called "browser." Then, select the product in the Favorites window. A list of instruments will appear in the columns to the right. Click on an item ending in .ewi to select the instrument, then click on the Add button, or you can simply double-click on the .ewi file to load the instrument. Some product instruments have a choice between elements.ewi and master.ewi. Elements, ewi contain single articulations which require less computer resources than master.ewi which loads all articulations.

    10. How do I use the products on a different hard drive?

If you wish to transfer any of the products to another hard drive, simply drag and drop the product folder from the TeraPack drive to the desired destination. Once you have moved the product over, launch PLAY and go to the Browser view, and then the Favorites window. Here right click (or "control" click on Mac) on the product name and select 'Set Product Library Directory'. A dialog will appear and from here select the Instruments folder of the product that was moved.

    11. What happens if I lose my data or the hard drive crashes?

Terapack comes on a high performance Western Digital Caviar Blue WD10EALS 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive (subject to change without notice). The Western Digital Caviar Blue hard drive is suitable for using the content, however, as hard drives can fail, we recommend you make a backup of the data on another hard drive (it does not have to be as high performance as the supplied hard drive, it's simply for back up). In the event a replacement drive becomes necessary, however, we will replace the data at any time.
